So this is my first-ever exploration into the world of blogs! I'm getting ready to take my last-ever (or at least for a really, really long time) month-long vacation. For all of my other travels, I've sent long emails out to friends. This time, everyone can just come visit the blog if they'd like to know what's going on... and be spared the largely pointless emails clogging their inboxes! So here's my first installment...
I leave for my European tour Tuesday morning. Though I originally had two travel companions, I'll be flying solo for the trip, which lasts from Aug 2-31. I am so very excited! It will be wonderful to visit old friends when I arrive and then travel around Europe with them. Traveling alone will let me catch up with everyone, and it will give me the time to think, write, and reflect before I join the working world in September.
I fly in to Venice; my Italian friends pick me up at the airport, and we go to Trieste; and my friend Caterina will meet me in Trieste. Cate and I will stay in an apartment at Porto San Rocco, and then she and I will take a tour of Southern Italy and end up in a beach house in Puglia for a friend's wedding. From there, I hope to make it to France, Brussels, and Denmark to visit
various friends. I'd love to make it to Spain and Prague, but I'm not sure I'm ready to take on those places traveling alone. So we'll see! Hope you enjoy the narratives.Tif

Below: Tif, Luvi (Ludovica, the cutest five year-old in the world), Raffaella, and my mother in Vidalia. These are our oldest, dearest Italian "family" friends, who live in Trieste. This photo was taken a year ago, so Luvi is much more grown up now...
